Taggart has a new boss and he must take orders from her even though he has doubts about the guilt of a gang member. People are later found murdered and Taggart, Jardine, Reid and McVitie must work hard and fast to catch the killer.

With Sean Brady still on the run, the case against John McLintock looks set to collapse. The killer strikes again, taking a third victim, relations between Taggart and his temporary boss remain somewhat strained.
