Count Guido Monzino (Milan, March 12, 1928-Lenno, October 11, 1988) was an Italian mountaineer and explorer. In 1973, he led the first Italian expedition to climb Everest. In 1948, he climbed the Matterhorn1 and then in 1955, traveled to Senegal, Gambia and Ivory Coast. The following year, he traveled to the Western Alps, Italy and Switzerland. In 1957-1958, he traveled the Paine massif in Patagonia and then in 1959, made the first ascent of Kanjut Sar in the Karakoram.
