Biography

Iranian Geneva-based filmmaker Hosein Jalilvand explores cinema and new imperialism as twin forces born at the end of the 19th century. Through his films and research, he examines how moving images and imperial power have shaped and reflected one another across film history. A DocNomads graduate, his short Song of the Bell (2018) won a best director award at DocLisboa.
