Biography

Trần Hữu Tri (b. October 29, 1915 in Hà Nam province - November 30, 1951), commonly known by his pen name Nam Cao, was a famous Vietnamese short story writer and novelist. His works generally received high acclaim from critics for their thoughtful description and veracious, poignant reflection of the society in the 1945 era. His works became prominently known after the birth of the short story “Chí Phèo” in 1941, which reaches the zenith of success in his career.
