Biography

Composer Robert Gates studied composing receiving a master's degree at Juilliard with Oscar and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano, specializing in bold, large-palette orchestral music. Winner of the national young composer awards from BMI and ASCAP, he also received awards and honors from Juilliard and The American Composers Orchestra. Combining a passion for melodic invention with a wild imagination for dramatic orchestral sonorities and textures, his compositions and orchestrations have been commissioned and performed internationally.
