Philippe Fourastié was a French film director and screenwriter known for his contributions to French cinema in the 1960s and 1970s. He began his career as an assistant director, collaborating with notable filmmakers such as Pierre Schoendoerffer on La 317e Section (1965), Claude Chabrol on Marie-Chantal contre docteur Kha (1965), Jean-Luc Godard on Pierrot le fou (1965), and Jacques Rivette on La Religieuse (1966).
