Biography

Flora Nwakobi is a Queer Nigerian-Indian who hates labels. They are a writer, director, death doula, yogi, & abolitionist. They create expansive art and spaces that subvert the dominant gaze by prioritizing the oppositional Black, Queer, Ancestral lens to question dominant narratives, reimagine what is possible, and inspire action and connection. Flora has programmed films for TIFF Next Wave, acted with Soulpepper Theatre Company, and premiered their freshman short film at the Toronto Short Film Festival.
