From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Virginia Dale (July 1, 1917 – October 3, 1994) was an American film actress, who was born Virginia Paxton, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She appeared in a number of movies in the 1930s and 1940s, including Holiday Inn, and became particularly associated with musicals. While working as one of the dancing Paxton Sisters in New York City, she was discovered by Darryl F. Zanuck who signed her to a contract with 20th Century Fox.
