From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.   Jean Boht (born Jean Dance; March 6, 1936 - September 12, 2023) was an English actress. She was most famous for the role of Nellie Boswell in Carla Lane's comedy Bread. In a career spanning from 1971 to the 2010s, she appeared in such productions as Softly, Softly (1971), Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em (1978), Juliet Bravo in the mid 1980s, and most recently in 2004, Mothers and Daughters. In 1989, she was the subject of This Is Your Life. She was married to composer Carl Davis, and they had two daughters. She was a pupil at Wirral Grammar School for Girls.
