Overview
Nelia believes that come summertime, her mother, taking the form of a butterfly, will finally visit her — A tale that her grandmother Rosa told her before. We follow the journey of Nelia Amparo, a 7-year-old girl with visual impairment, as she’s tasked to describe her dream house to be presented in a show-and-tell activity in class. Hearing other children’s concept of a home—typically consisting of parents and their child—prompted her to ask about her mother’s whereabouts, as she had been raised by her grandmother, Rosa. Amidst the backdrop of a quaint neighborhood, we witness Nelia’s journey as she tries to finish her dream house. She navigates loss alongside her grandmother, Rosa, exploring the concept of grief as experienced in different stages of life. Along the way, we also encounter 30-year-old elementary school teacher Lily, who looks after Nelia in every way she can.
