Even when a paraglider mysteriously falls from the sky, the people of Zinal don’t seem to be bothered. The small town in the Swiss Alps looks straight up toward the melting glaciers of the Couronne Impériale. But what to do? They can’t stop the world from decaying, but when the threat is so immediate, and the personal powerlessness so great, is there another answer than respond with nihilistic, cynical indifference?
